How to Care Your Bed Sheets and Make it Last Longer

After a long day of activities, it’s natural to want to relax on a comfortable mattress. Imagine the softness and freshness of bed sheets that help you unwind after a tiring activity.  It's something to look forward to at the end of the day.

However, consider whether you are taking proper care of your bed linen. It’s  important to pay attention to the cleanliness of the bed, especially since bed linen usually comes into direct contact with the skin, absorbs body odor and is exposed to dust from outside.

Simple things like changing and washing bed sheets need to be considered. It's also helpful to know what type of fabric or bed sheets you're using so you don’t end up giving them the wrong treatment.

How Often Do You Need to Change Your Bed Sheets?

Hygiene is a top priority when it comes to caring for your bed linen. If this is not considered properly, it can certainly cause health problems due to unmaintained cleanliness. Common side effects are itchy skin or irritation if the sheets are not clean enough.

It’s recommended to change and wash your bed sheets regularly, at least once a week. This will help remove any dirt or residue left behind during use.
Additionally, if you have more than one bed set, you can take turns using them. That way, a set of bed sheets won't be washed too often and reduce the risk of the fabric getting worn out.

Avoid Using Bleach and Softeners.

In order to maintain the quality of the bed linen fabric, it’s not recommended to use bleach too often, especially if it has a strong chemical content that can make the fabric more likely to get damaged. However, if you do need to use a stain remover, make sure it's safe and gentle, especially if you're dealing with colored bed sheets

You should also try to avoid using fabric softener frequently, although it'll make the fabric feel softer after washing, the ingredients in fabric softener can make your bed linen absorb less due to the residue that's left behind.

Store Your Bed Sheets Properly.

Once you've done the washing, get the bed sheets ready by folding them neatly and putting them in a dry place with good airflow.

It's best to avoid storing them in a humid place to prevent mold growth and keep them fresh. Make sure you store them in a container that's dust-free.
